Mike Allen interviewing Run DMC 22nd May 1987
Here's a nice little piece of radio history. The great Mike Allen interviewing Run DMC in 1987 on Capital Radio whilst they were on their European tour with the Beastie Boys.

Egotripland have uploaded another lecture from the recent Red Bull Music Academy events in Spain. In their own words:
Bear witness as Doom discusses the early ’80s episodes of Afrika Islam’s “Zulu Beats” radio shows on WHBI, which would provide the inspiration for his signature audio collages. Listen as he explains the defining characteristics of his plethora of performance personas (Zev Love X, Doom, Viktor Vaughn, King Ghidra). Marvel as he dissects the makings of classic recordings such as KMD’s Mr. Hood and Black Bastards, Operation: Doomsday, and his essential collab with

Prince Paul - Unreleased Tracks
Prince Paul has been busy releasing various old tracks from his archive that were previous unavailable. I recently shared the Gravediggaz demo with you, but since then he's also released a 'rough mix' of Slick Rick's classic hit Behind Bars and the unreleased original mix of 3rd Bass' track Green Eggs and Swine from their 2nd LP Derelicts of Dialect.
The Slick Rick track is completely different to the LP version (which emerged 2 years later), and it's a completely different style to anything I've heard Ricky Walters rhyme on previously, yet it still compliments his unique vocals. At the same time though, I can see why this version wasn't included on the LP as it doesn't really sit that well with the rest of the cuts. Who'd have thought a Warren G mix would trump a Prince Paul mix?
The 3rd Bass mix isn't too different in style, but it's much more stripped back and the vocal sample hasn't been sped up. It's not one of my favourite tracks from 3rd Bass, but its interesting to hear the alternative version (even if it is 21 years later!).

Godfathers Interview
For anyone who has just awaken from a coma or returned from an intergallactic trip, you should be aware that Kool G Rap and Necro have united to form the Godfathers and will shortly be putting out a full length LP full of new material. This has got to be one of the most intriguing collaboration projects in recent years as it's an undisputed heavyweight champion and, by comparison, an underdog (not to take anything away from Necro). I doubt many people can say they saw this collaboration coming.
I know many people disregard Necro's music (quite often before giving it a chance) because of his death rap style, but Necro can really spit, he has an insane flow and (in my own humble opinion) is an ideal partner for KGR. Necro is also a dope producer and will be in full control of the boards for this collaborative effort.
Read this interview to find out more about how the project came about and what to expect when the album is released early in 2012.
